Today, we embark on a journey that showcases Bhutan’s rich history,
stunning architecture, and spiritual heritage.

DOCHULA PASS
Our day begins with a scenic drive to Dochula Pass, where you’ll be greeted by the 108 beautiful chortens, built by the Queen Mother, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, to commemorate Bhutan's victory over Indian militants and to liberate the souls of the fallen. This peaceful spot offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas, making it a truly serene start to the day.
PUNAKHA DZONG
Next, we head to the majestic Punakha Dzong, a masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture built in 1637. Nestled at the fork of two rivers, it stands as a testament to Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage. Despite facing fires and floods throughout its history, this architectural gem has been meticulously restored, still serving as the winter residence for Bhutan’s clergy. A walk around the dzong is like stepping back into the medieval era.


KHAMSUM YULLEY NAMGYAL CHORTEN
Our journey continues to the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, built by the Third Queen Mother, Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck. This unique chorten is a stunning example of Bhutanese craftsmanship, taking over eight years to complete. Its design draws inspiration from sacred religious scriptures, making it one of the most extraordinary and singular structures in Bhutan.

Sacred Sites and
Majestic Views in Bhutan
Today, we venture through some of Bhutan’s most iconic spiritual landmarks,
surrounded by stunning natural beauty.
CHIMI LHAKHANG
Start your day with a 20-minute walk across terraced fields to the Chhimi Lhakhang, a small yet significant temple nestled on a hill in the heart of Sopsokha village. This sacred site, built in the 15th century by Ngawang Chogyel, honors the divine teachings of the 'Divine Madman,' Drukpa Kuenlay. Known for its association with fertility, Chhimi Lhakhang is a popular pilgrimage destination for women seeking blessings for fertility and childbirth.


PARO VALLEY
Next, we journey to the stunning Paro Valley, a haven of tranquility and spiritual significance. The valley is home to some of Bhutan’s oldest and most revered monasteries and temples. It is also where Paro International Airport, the only airport in Bhutan, lies. At the northern end of the valley stands the majestic Mount Chomolhari (7,300 meters), its glacier waters giving birth to the Pachu River, which winds through the valley. The beauty of Paro Valley is beyond compare.

PARO DZONG
(Rinpung Dzong)
Explore the imposing Paro Dzong, a massive fortress and monastery built in the 15th century. It serves as both the administrative center of Paro district and a place of deep spiritual significance. Wander through its grand halls, vibrant courtyards, and serene surroundings, immersing yourself in Bhutan’s living history.
DRUKGYEL DZONG
​In the afternoon, we drive north to the Drukgyel Dzong ruins, a once-mighty fortress built in 1647 by the revered Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the father of medieval Bhutan. Though destroyed by an accidental fire, these ruins stand as an evocative reminder of the kingdom’s victorious past. Explore the ramparts and soak in the remarkable views, where history and nature meet in perfect harmony.

Conquering Bhutan’s
Iconic Tiger’s Nest
Today, we embark on an unforgettable adventure as we make our way to one of Bhutan’s
most renowned landmarks: Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang).
HIKE TO TIGER’S NEST
Prepare for an exhilarating hike to the breathtaking Taktsang Monastery, perched on the cliffs of the Paro Valley. The 1-hour hike takes you through lush forests and offers spectacular views as you ascend. Reach the cafeteria, where you can enjoy a panoramic vista of the monastery, surrounded by fluttering prayer flags. According to legend, Guru Padmasambhava (also known as Guru Rinpoche) arrived here in the 8th century riding a tigress, bringing with him the teachings of Buddhism. This mystical site is a must-visit for spiritual seekers and adventurers alike.


LOCAL LUNCH

KYICHU LHAKHANG
In the afternoon, we head to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most revered temples. Built in the 7th century, this sacred site is a peaceful sanctuary and a place of deep historical and spiritual significance. Take a moment to reflect and soak in the serenity of this tranquil temple.
